This Saturday, Plaza Amador and Club Atlético Independiente de La Chorrera (CAI) will face off in the first leg of the Clausura 2025 semifinals. This showdown between the last two Panamanian football champions will mark the beginning of the path to the grand final of the Panamanian Football League (LPF).

The first leg, with CAI as the home team, kicks off at 8 PM and will be held in La Chorrera, in the province of Panamá Oeste. This stadium has been a true fortress for the club, which became the Clausura 2014 champion by defeating Plaza Amador in the final.

In this Clausura, the two teams have faced each other once, with Plaza Amador — the Apertura 2025 champion — winning convincingly 3-0.

Plaza Amador reaches this stage as the leader of the Eastern Conference with 36 points, while CAI secured its spot through the playoffs, eliminating Sporting San Miguelito.

For this first duel, Plaza Amador will have two key absences: Alberto Quintero and Eric Davis, who are both with the national team for the World Cup qualifiers.

The other semifinal will be held on Sunday, when Alianza F.C. faces San Francisco F.C.

Alianza, coached by experienced Colombian manager Jair Palacios, advanced to the semifinals via the liguilla, a series decided on penalties against Club Deportivo Universitario.

Meanwhile, San Francisco, under the leadership of Jorge Luis Dely Valdés, sealed its ticket as the leader of the Western Conference after a tight race that was decided on the final matchday of the regular season.

Since both teams belong to different conferences, they only met once during the regular season, a match that ended 1-1.

This first encounter of the tie will see Alianza as the home team at the Los Andes stadium in San Miguelito, in the Panamanian capital.
